Week 5: Active Engagement

I can see myself using the last two statements (see below) to reinforce how pleased I am that the students are writing and sharing their ideas. I feel that I could be inspiring and prompting them to do more and expand on details.
• You were so smart to ask (student’s name) to be your writing teacher and to help you come up with ideas for your writing. I hope you continue to use your friends as writing helpers, (writer’s name). Good writers do that.
• What you are doing is exactly what writers do! You chose a part that is important; you thought, why is this important? What do I want my readers to know about and feel here? Now you want to slow that part of your writing down by adding on.
